Park Outdoor Gets The Birds Eye View
Posted on August 4, 2016 by Daktronics OOH Advertising
Park Outdoor Advertising, headquartered in Ithaca, NY, owns and operates static and digital billboards from offices in Binghamton, Elmira, Utica and Syracuse. Park Outdoor is increasing their digital billboard inventory to 12 displays, with the addition of a 16mm Daktronics digital billboard in the Syracuse market.
For this display, Park Outdoor opted to try something a little different to promote and fill the displays available ad space. The company chose to give potential advertisers a bird’s eye view of the latest digital billboard with drone footage of the display.
We spoke with Bill Dugan, VP/General Manager Park Outdoor, about their new digital display and their sales strategy:
How did you come up with the idea to get drone footage of your display?
Dugan: “We are late to the marketplace in Syracuse with digital, compared to our competition. I wanted our clients to see firsthand our advantages over our competitors – mainly location and technology. We have the first 16mm in town, and it’s so clear.”
How do you plan to use this display footage?
Dugan: “We distributed it to clients via email when we launched the digital. I still share it with out of town clients when submitting RFP’s.”
What type of feedback are you getting on the new display?
Dugan: “People compliment us the what a great read it is and how sharp/clear the picture is, and how great the colors look.”
Our Thoughts
We love this approach! It’s creative, different and eye-catching! What a great way to show potential advertisers what their customers will see, how well their brand will be represented and how great their ads will look on a digital billboard.
